Pleated Banner by Lynne Joncas

Hello there crafty friends! Today I'm sharing with you a layout I created featuring my "grandkitty" (otherwise known as my daughter's cat Bella!) along with a simple tutorial for the pleated and punched half-rosette banner at the upper right of the page.

I started with a rectangular piece of patterned paper for each rosette; for this project the pieces were about 4.5 x 6.5 cm.

I punched along both of the long edges of each rectangle; for this project I used the Martha Stewart Swirling Lace punch.

Fold the pieces accordion-style starting at a short edge.

Fold the piece in the middle to form a fan shape and then use a hot glue gun to secure it in the center.

Arrange the banner pieces on your layout and attach them; I used the hot glue gun once again as the pleated edges are difficult to keep in place with any other adhesive. You can add twine along the top; I also added little bows just for fun.

Here are a few other rosettes using different punches; decorative scissors also work well or you can leave the rosettes plain with no punching.
