March team training ...

Welcome to our latest edition of Team Training brought to you this month by Phillis Walrath.

Each month one of our team will inspire you with a little tutorial, tip or trick to help you in your scrapbooking pursuits.

Color and texture backgrounds by Phillis Walrath

Today I am sharing a way to make your background have color and texture.

I started with a pizza sized box, a piece of bubble wrap, and a spray ink.

I put the bubble wrap inside the box and sprayed it with the ink.
Then I put my paper on top of the bubble wrap and pushed down to let the ink "stamp" on my paper.
This is what it looked like.
I moved the paper and then "stamped it" again on the bubble wrap.

Once the ink was dry I added washi tape strips near the side of each edge.
Then your back ground is done.

Once I added my photo, embellishments, string, and journaling my final Page looks like this:

If you don't have any bubble wrap you probably have some other textured material that you can use to spray the ink on.  I am sure wrinkled up foil is will work.  I always put my paper into some kind of box before I spray it.  This helps to keep the ink from spraying all over my scrap room.

I hope you will have some fun with spray ink and bubble wrap soon!

Don't forget to have your entry in for our challenge this month.  Some lovely prizes on offer - one prize by vote, another completely by random draw and a guest designer spot to offer one lucky entrant. You have until 11.55 on the final day of the month to have your submission linked. Please remember we only accept combining our challenge with a sketch challenge.

Our March guest ...

Please welcome our guest designer for this month, Taru Jehkotar from Finland with her delightful take on our inspiration image for March.

Hi everyone! My name is Taru! I´m so excited to be part of the Pixels and Papers Challenge on this month!  I live in Rauma, Finland with my sons Sami and Niko. I´m retired about 12 years now. I love cats. I have four sweet cats and they feature on my scrapbook pages often.  I saw how my friend made cards in spring 2007.  Inspired by her I began make my own cards with 3D images. But then I found stamps and it was big love right away! Then I found scrapbooking, mixed media and art journal. I love to take photos – I was always take a lot of photo of my life.  I love little bit crazy, funny and silly photos!

On my works I really love bold colors, shapes, layers, stamps, stencils and dimension. I love to use different mediums, but I also love to make “clean and simple”! Just like what mood I have when I crafting.

You can found me on social media…..

Criteria is FLOWERS

Wednesday 1 March 2017

Hello sweet March ...

Welcome to our first month of Autumn down under and I hope some glorious weather awaits us - I always love our mid seasons, they are my favourite months of the year.

This month our challenge is a pretty one - please use this delightful image as your inspiration point and add the criteria of FLOWERS to your submission and please don't forget to tell us what inspired you.
Criteria is FLOWERS

And this is how our team was inspired ...

PHILLIS
I just loved these flowers from the inspiration photo. I found a photo of the flowers that my mother in law had at her house. She took the photo and it was with some other photos that she had given to me. What a memory this will be for my kids.

LYNNE
I was inspired by the teacup to use the Botanical Tea papers and make a birthday card for my tea-loving aunt. She also loves to garden, so the flowers were a perfect addition.

KAREN
I scrapped another page for my Rockhampton album, featuring a garden photograph. I kept the page very simple, and embellished with flowers of different sizes, shapes and styles.

ELAINE
I used a photo from eons ago for my friends 80th birthday album .. she was so emotional when we gave it to her.

REBECCA
I was inspired by the flowers and the colours. I had this picture of my son smelling the roses from a couple of summers ago and the purple and fushia flowers were an almost perfect match to the flowers in the photo.

SHAZZA
I used lots of flowers. Roses are trailing from the trellis and looks like a cottage garden.

DI
This month I have used some of the colours from the inspiration photo as well as heaps of flowers.
The background paper is one made in a class at Time to Create and involved spraying, adding punched flower and, stamping with traditional stamps as well as using natural materials such as leaves and twigs. I've also used the die cut flowers from last month's team training and one of my alcohol-inked CD's as a base for the photo.

JANE
I really liked the old world feel of this image and the cluster of different flowers contained within the cup which I have tried to replicate on my page.

Hope you can come and join in with our challenge this month, we need more of you playing along with us and winning some great prizes.  Please remember we only accept combining our challenge with a sketch challenge.

Please upload your entry to the link tool on the LEFT by 11.55pm on March 31st.

We can't wait to see your pages.

Please come back on the 8th when we will announce our winners for February.
